Heavy foam-making branch pipes are characterised by a capacity for long throwing distances. They can be employed for many fire fighting purposes, fires of solid material and also for burning liquids (e.g. petrol, oils, greases). On account of the high density of the foam it is possible to attain considerable throwing distances, enabling fire from a fought from a safe distance. When using special foam compounds, heavy foam will prove to be most effective in extinguishing fires of hydrophilic liquids such as methyl-alcohol, and isopropyl alcohol.
The water/foam compound solution emerges under pressure from the nozzle inserts which are fitted in a nozzle disc in an annular arrangement. This causes a formation of fine spray jets which draw air through their injection effect. The entering air stream mixes with the jets of the water/foam compound solution. Foam is produced. The guide tube inside the branch pipe turns the foam into a solid foam jet.
