Fire Alarm Servicing

FIRESAFE offers the following servicing packages for fire alarm systems which are in accordance with Australian Standard AS 1851-2005 Section 6 and 7.

Service Records

Service records are kept in accordance with AS 1851-2012 Section 6.2.5 which include all relevant information to the system maintenance such as date of servicing, units serviced, any faults detected, rectification of faults and sign off by the service technician.

Service Logbook

A logbook is kept at the fire alarm panel in accordance with AS 1851-2012 Section 1.16.3 The logbook has sequentially numbered pages in triplicate. The logbook needs to be signed off by the building occupier and the service technician after every service, with the original copy kept by the building occupier, the duplicate copy kept by FIRESAFE and the triplicate copy remaining in the book at the fire alarm panel.

Monthly Alarm System Servicing is carried in compliance with AS 1851-2012 Section 6.4.1.2

Fire Alarm System should undergo a monthly system test and test of all audible and visible warning devices. FIRESAFE can provide our qualified service team to do this every month. Monthly service includes:

  • Inspection of External Alarm Bell
  • Inspection of Fire Indicator Panel, ensuring accessibility, cleanliness and ensuring fault free operation.
  • Test indicator lamps on fire alarm panel.
  • Inspection of backup batteries.
  • Simulate an alarm to ensure all audible and visual warnings activate.
  • Ensure alarm log book and building plans are present at panel.
  • Ensure activation of any linked evacuation or warning systems.

 

6 Monthly Servicing

6 Monthly Alarm System Servicing is carried in compliance with AS 1851-2012 Section 6.4.1.3

 

This must occur once per year, opposite to the Annual Servicing. (example 6 monthly servicing in January each year and annual servicing in July each year).

The 6 Monthly Service includes all elements covered in the Monthly Service with the addition of the following:

  • Visual inspection of all detection devices ensuring the appear in a normal operating condition.
  • Manual test of all Manual call points and break glass alarms.
  • Ensure that all alarm activated modules are working.
  • Ensure alarm activation from any special hazard systems.

A comprehensive log of testing should be kept to ensure faults can be monitored and rectified.

Annual Servicingfire-alarm-maintenance

Annual Alarm System Servicing is carried in compliance with AS 1851-2012 Section 6.4.1.4

 

This must occur once per year, opposite to the 6 Monthly Servicing. (example 6 monthly servicing in January each year and annual servicing in July each year).

The Annual Service includes all elements covered in the Monthly Service and 6 Monthly Service with the addition of the following:

  • Test the operation of all detectors, and ensure the activate the correct zone alarm.
  • Inspect and test all visual and audible alarms.
  • Ensure all components are within service life including backup battery
  • Test all alarm activation notification systems such as direct alarms, paging and SMS response
  • Inspection of building to ensure no modifications to the fire alarm system have occurred and that the system adequately covers all areas of the building.

A comprehensive log of testing should be kept to ensure faults can be monitored and rectified.

Battery Operated Smoke and Heat Detectors

FIRESAFE also offers a 6 monthly servicing arrangement for battery operated smoke and heat detectors, as well as any other domestic style standalone alarms and detectors. This servicing includes:

  • Test the operation of all detectors.
  • Inspect and test all visual and audible alarms.
  • Replacement of battery
  • Clean and visual inspection

Again a comprehensive log of testing should be kept to ensure faults can be monitored and rectified.
